Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault does not have configuration files that can be modified to use the 333networks masterserver. Instead, it is necessary to patch the executable files to start the game and/or server.

The relevant executables can be found in the following location(s):

If that folder/file does not exist, click here for more information on known configuration locations. Once you located the configuration file, proceed with the instructions below.

Depending on the retailer and installer, other common locations for the configuration file are:

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\MOHAA\
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Medal of Honor Allied Assault Warchest\
C:\Program Files\GOG Galaxy\GamesMedal of Honor - Allied Assault War Chest\

If the file is also not in the specified locations above, find the installation directory of your game manually: right-click on the Medal of Honor icon on your desktop and select "Properties". This will show a dialog box similar to the one below.

The executables are located in the folder that was specified during the installation. Look at the path in the "Start in" field. This path is the directory where the executables are located.

For server administrators who host a Medal of Honor server.

Server Side Configuration

For Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Spearhead and Breakthrough, separate binaries are available. From the table below, select your version for Medal of Honor and download the archive. The archives on this page contain binaries that have been patched to replace the GameSpy masterserver with the 333networks masterserver. Always create a backup of the binaries before replacing them! First shut down the gameserver.

If you are hosting your server on Windows 7, 10 or 11, download the Win32 archive. Depending on what version of Medal of Honour you intend to patch, replace the following file(s) inside the game folder with the file from the archive:

• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault 1.11 -- MOHAA_server.exe
• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead 2.15 -- moh_spearhead_server.exe
• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Breakthrough 2:40 -- moh_Breakthrough_server.exe

If you are hosting your server on any modern Linux, download the Linux archive. Depending on what version of Medal of Honour you intend to patch, replace the following file(s) with the file from the archive:

• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault 1.11 -- mohaa_lnxded
• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Spearhead 2.15 -- spearhead_lnxded
• Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Breakthrough 2:40 has no Linux binaries.

Daven's fixes for server

If you are using Daven's fixes (downloadable from https://www.mohaaaa.co.uk), follow the same instructions as above with the archives in the table below instead. The rest of the instructions remain the same.

Restart your gameserver and verify that your gameserver is visible on master.333networks.com. It may take up to 15 minutes before your server becomes visible.

Don't want to patch your binaries?

We know that there are circumstances where it's either not possible or not desired to update your binaries. As an alternative solution, it possible to change the HOSTs file with a different masterserver ip-address. By editing the HOSTS file, you override the DNS settings of the currently configured masterserver and replace it with a 333networks masterserver address.

The code block above contains the current IP address of master.333networks.com, copy it to your HOSTS file and save the file. You may have to restart your computer for this change to take effect.

A project called OpenMoHAA, an open-source reimplementation of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, uplinks to 333networks directly. You can download and install it by following OpenMoHAA's instructions on their website.
