Configuration file location

Han's Deus Ex Coop Mod stores the configuration file on the following location:

If that folder/file does not exist, click here for more information on known configuration locations. Once you located the configuration file, proceed with the instructions below.

Depending on the retailer and installer, other common locations for the configuration file are:

C:\DeusEx\System\HX.ini
C:\DeusEx GOTY\System\HX.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\DeusEx\System\HX.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\DeusEx\System\HX.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DeusEx\System\HX.iniMyDocuments\Games\DeusEx\System\HX.ini

If the file is also not in the specified locations above, find the installation directory of your game manually: right-click on the DeusEx icon on your desktop and select "Properties". This will show a dialog box similar to the one below.

The configuration file is called HX.ini and is located in the System folder inside the folder that was specified during the installation. Look at the path in the "Start in" field. This path is the directory where System and HX.ini are located.

Game Client Configuration

Before making changes to your configuration, make sure to close your game first. Once you have located the configuration file, open it with a text editor of choice and find the [HX.HXMenuScreenJoinGame] section. In this section, you replace the old GameSpy entry (red) with one or more of the 333networks-affiliated masterserver entries (green):

These sections may be found in different places of the configuration file. Please pay attention to the following:

Remove the line containing master0.gamespy.com. GameSpy ceased their services in 2014 and the domain no longer resolves to a masterserver.

Insert one new entry with a new masterserver address in the form of a domain name. We added the example line above with the following masterserver entry:

• master.333networks.com

It is also possible to add masterservers that are not listed in the example. See our frequently asked questions for help on selecting a masterserver.

Restart your game for the changes to take effect. The first time that you restart the game, close and re-open your configuration file to see if the changes persisted. Go to "Multiplayer Games" and see whether the UBrowser now lists online Deus Ex servers. If this does not work for you, please visit our discord server, where we will try to help you set up the game properly.

(!) Always type the configuration changes manually and check for mistakes. For Han's Deus Ex Coop Mod it is only possible to set one masterserver entry.
